The internment camp of Ferramonti, in the municipality of Tarsia, was the main (in terms of numerical consistency) among the numerous places of internment for Jews, stateless, foreign enemies and Slavs opened by the fascist regime between June and September 1940. The camp was freed by the English in September 1943, but many ex-internees remained in Ferramonti even in the following years until it was definitely closed on 11 December 1945.
