The cathedral of Maria Santissima Achiropita placed in Rossano was built in the eleventh century, with subsequent interventions in the eighteenth and nineteenth. The bell tower and the baptismal font are dated back to the fourteenth century while the other decorations date from the seventeenth to the eighteenth century. The church is famous for the ancient image of the Madonna Acheropita, which is not painted by human hands, probably dating between 580 and the first half of the eighth century.
