Mount Cocuzzo is a mountain of 1541 meters of the southern Apennines, located between the territories of Longobardi and Mendicino, in the province of Cosenza. It is the highest peak of the Coastal Chain. The name Cocuzzo comes from the ancient Greek and it means “bad stone” or “bad cavity”. This fact suggests it is due to a volcanic origin also confirmed by the conical shape.
