Shooting is moving to Calabria for Sandokan, an international event series produced by Lux Vide, a Fremantle Group company, in collaboration with Rai Fiction. The series, based on an idea by Luca Bernabei, is an adaptation of the historical saga written by Emilio Salgari, developed for television by Alessandro Sermoneta, Scott Rosenbaum and Davide Lantieri. It is directed by Jan Maria Michelini and Nicola Abbatangelo. Sandokan will soon be broadcast on Rai1 and will be distributed worldwide by Fremantle International and in Spain by Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group. The leading role is played by Can Yaman, joined by newcomer Alanah Bloor in the role of Marianne. With them Ed Westwick as the charming antagonist Lord Brooke, while Alessandro Preziosi will give the face of the iconic Yanez de Gomera.
Lux “lands” for the first time in this region, with the support of the Film Commission and the Region of Calabria, which were fundamental partners in the operation. It will be the city of Lamezia Terme, in whose industrial area a backlot has been built, that will be the setting for the next shoot. Today, Monday 27 May, the first take place in the picturesque setting of Le Castella, in the municipality of Isola di Capo Rizzuto in the province of Crotone.
