It extends across for about 35 km from the Strait of Messina and the lower Tyrrhenian Sea. The coastline is squeezed between the sea and the mountains, is dominated by jagged coasts and ravines like the cave of the hawk. The seabeds still have an unspoilt ecosystem similar to the tropical ones.
